SLOW START DOOMS KNIGHTS IN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
February 23- Despite roaring back from a 22-point deficit, LCA's title run fell just short on Saturday night as the Knights fell to Christian Community 76-72. Battling a hostile crowd and the hot shooting of CCHS, LCA fell behind 29-7 in the first quarter. By the half, Lancaster had cut the lead to twelve and eventually pulled to within four points before running out of time. Gabe Brewer led the Knights with 17 points and 8 assists. The sophomore guard averaged 18.3 ppg for the tournament. Junior Caleb Ingram scored 16 points and pulled down 21 rebounds. Ingram averaged 12.3 ppg and 18.7 rpg during the tournament. Both players were named to the All-MTAC team. Freshman Andrew Holt added 12 points and 15 rebounds while senior Nick Johnson scored 14 points against CCHS. Holt averaged 13.3 ppg during the tournament. The Knights finished the season with a record of 16-9. With the loss of just one senior and the addition of several talented transfers, LCA will be considered a favorite in the MTAC in 2008-2009. |

LADY KNIGHTS FALL SHORT IN MTAC TITLE GAME
February 23- The Lady Knights fell just short of the MTAC title for the second straight season, dropping the championship game 63-38 to Aaron Academy. The Lady Royals claimed the championship for the second year in a row. All-MTAC guard Ashleigh Gyalog was stifled by the Aaron defense, scoring a tough 13 points in the loss. The sophomore guard averaged 21.3 ppg over the tournament. Junior Victoria Finley added 13 points against the Lady Royals and was also named all-MTAC. Finley averaged 10. ppg over the three MTAC games. Seniors Courtney Finley, Sarah Musselwhite, Amanda Braunwalder and M.J. Alexander all graduate this spring, but four of the top five scorers return for LCA. The Lady Knights finished 12-9 on the season, an impressive turnaround from their 3-16 season a year ago. |
